Dog hygiene products

Supplies of dog hygiene products vary depending on the season believe it or not. As our seasons change throughout the year the challenges for owners everywhere is to cope with wet doggie smells in winter, incessant scratching in summer or moulting whenever the dog feels like it (even if they are supposedly non moulting). Dog hygiene is a constant trial, luckily, for them and us, dog owners do not have to suffer for long.

The range of dog hygiene products on sale is as diverse as the problems they treat. There are many products and solutions to help with unpleasant doggie smells and habits. From "shake and vac" to treat carpets, to perfume sprays, especially created with your dog in mind.

Regular shampooing can eliminate lots of odours, even keeping them from developing around the house. But you also have to make sure your dog's coat and skin are not being stripped of their natural oils. Over-bathing can cause just as many problems as an unhygienic dog.

Using different types of shampoo for each bath will help, for instance, to help your dogs overall hygiene, use a mild dog shampoo with a conditioner. Always bath your dog at lest once every two months with a flea specific shampoo to help stop the flea's egg cycle. Most good pet shops and supermarkets sell a good range of dog shampoos. Dog websites have there own products, which you can buy on line. Dogs teeth should not be overlooked either, try dental bones that clean their teeth as they chew.

Keeping your dog clean and smelling nice is not the only advantage of keeping your dogs coat healthy. As we all know, dog parasites are the bane of the summer months, with the heat aiding the breeding cycle. Ticks and fleas are not just a nuisance; they can hinder the health of your dog. Your vet can help you with this, drops and collars are the best way to keep them at bay.

Lastly, dog hygiene is not just about the cleanliness of your dog. What about the mess your dog leaves behind. There have been many different contraptions invented to help with this problem "Poopa Scoopers" for instance. But the best way by far is to buy and attach a little plastic bone shaped holder to your dog's lead, which discreetly holds 200 little plastic bags; these bags can be deposited into the rubbish later on, which is cleaner and safer for everyone. Dog hygiene is also about being responsible, that means keeping your neighbourhood, and your dog, clean.
